Bengtson Center Spring Skin Care Event

This past Thursday Lola invited me to join her at the Be A Glow Getter! Spring Skin Care Event at The Bengtson Center for Aesthetics and Plastic Surgery.  The annual event is a fun opportunity to socialize as well as check out the newest products and procedures available for achieving rejuvenated springtime skin.  We will be stepping out a lot this Spring and we want to be sure to put our best faces forward!

The Bengtson Center, which specializes in cosmetic surgery as well as skin care treatments, boasts beautiful and state-of-the-art facilities.  It recently relocated to the new Grand Rapids Women's Health Center on the Medical Mile and is apparently the place to be!  Everyone came out to see The Bengtson Center's top vendors show off their most popular products and services and take advantage of special pricing.

We both had on pieces from our most recent Leigh's shopping spree.  I layered an Elie Tahari jacket over an orange Skinny Tees cami and completed the outfit with Vince pants and Donald Pliner cork wedges.  Lola had on a Trina Turk top and skirt, strappy Michael Kors sandals, and a Brighton necklace.

Some of my favorite vendors at the Be a Glow Getter! Event included Elina Organic Skin Care (which is made in Michigan!), Design 1 Salon Spa (whose fashion show we attended in December), and Aura cosmetics.  Our wine samples were provided by my favorite local wine shop- Martha's Vineyard- and gourmet pizzas and desserts were catered by Nantucket Baking Company. As if I wasn't already thoroughly impressed with The Bengtson Center, they had decided to use the event as an opportunity to give back.  They are partnering with local nonprofits to help local mothers in need.  Everyone was encouraged to donate a pack of diapers so I picked up a couple for Lola and I to bring.  I am a mother of two myself and think this is a great cause to support!  After learning about the latest and greatest solutions available for "getting our glow on" Lola and I determined that we both have similar skin care needs- our fair complexions make it difficult for us to maintain a healthy-looking tan.  We were suggested a self-tanner from Aura Cosmetics to achieve our desired radiant, springtime skin and we are absolutely in love with it.  (Lola had originally been set on a slightly more aggressive Spring skin care regiment of Botox, however after speaking with the representative it was determined that she really had no fine lines or wrinkles to worry about).  We can't wait for our next chance to visit The Bengtson Center!

Saying Goodbye to Diane!

Lola & Eloise fell apart when they found out Diane was leaving and resigned themselves to their "loft" to pull themselves together.

Lola and Eloise were in pieces after my last day as Leigh's fashion marketing intern this past Wednesday. We had a great time together the past few months and I was happy to have brought them to life, but it's time to pass the girls onto their next keeper! Their adventures don't stop here! Leigh's newest intern, Annie Tilma, will be accompanying the duo around Grand Rapids.

Lola has high hopes of making her way to shopping malls to "network" with the male mannequins, while Eloise insists they maintain their high standards. (Eloise insists the tuxedo clad male mannequin in the stock room is a perfectly eligible match for Lola, but she doesn't seem convinced.) Annie will have her job cut out for her to ensure the girls' strong, disparate personalities don't get the best of them! The girls hope to visit more restaurants (without packing on the pounds), shows and special events this spring!

My time with Lola and Eloise was a blast. From stopping for a glass of wine at Reserve GR, wearing Pamella Roland gowns at the Meijer Gardens Holiday Gala, braving holiday shopping, watching Cirque de Noel with Rebecca and Meg to being guests at the Design 1 runway show and braving the Van Andel [and thousands of fans] for a Griffins game, I had an amazing time working on this project with Rebecca, Patrick and the Leigh's team!!

Design 1 Salon Spa Fashion Event

It's no secret that we love all things fashion - especially when we can share our passion with others over a few cocktails! This past Tuesday we were invited by our friends at Leigh's to attend the Design 1 Salon Spa Fashion Event at Eve in the B.O.B.

As a mother of two I was excited to find that proceeds from the event would benefit Helen Devos Children's Hospital. Such a great cause meant guilt free shopping and, hopefully, a good excuse to give my husband when I got home!

Before the show Lola insisted we post up near the bar...insisting it was the perfect place to keep an eye on the silent auction table. (She was determined to win the wine tasting party and Porsche driving school lessons).

Leigh's runway show was impressive - Lola and I were eying the same fabulous Peter Nathan coat [shown below], especially since neither of us had really dressed for the weather (ah, the sacrifices we make for fashion).

By the time Design 1 models hit the runway we had developed some serious hair envy. From shocking red curls and Rapunzelesque locks to sky-high, crystal accented bouffants we lamented that we wished we could maintain such fantastical updos.

After the show Lola and I wrestled through the crowd and I wrestled her into my car before she could speed off in the Porsche that was on display outside the B.O.B.
