Lacks Cancer Center!

Well ladies it’s that time of the year again! And no Eloise it’s not the Valentino Trunk Show at Leighs...It’s time for us to get our yearly mammogram, and just in time for October, Brest Cancer awareness month! So before my girl Eloise and I could head over to Lacks Cancer Center we just had to stop by Leigh’s and see all of there new fabulous fall fashion that they got it, which of course they never disappoint. I found this amazing blue dress by Tracy Reese, with this dramatic collar and great leather detailing on the side. Eloise snagged up this adorable, yet simple Diane Von Furstenberg dress adding a silver necklace and belt, just made the outfit! So after we made our purchases Eloise and I drove over to the Lacks Cancer Center for our appointments!

isn’t this waiting room just beautiful?!

It makes me want to wait even longer! So before my girl and I slip into our mammogram gowns (which I look fabulous in) we wanted to educated you a little bit on what exactly a mammogram is, just in case you didn’t know! A mammogram is an x-ray picture of the breast. It is a procedure used to check for breast cancer in woman who have no signs or symptoms of the disease. Usually during the procedure the machine will take two pictures, one of the left breast and one of the right. The x-ray image is used to detect tumors that cannot be felt.

You know how much I love short dresses, but not this short!

Eloise went first, then I followed, the procedure doesn’t take long at all so don’t be nervous!

I don’t really think this is my color...

The staff at Lacks was amazing, Carole Gentry was so helpful along with the entire staff, they make you feel so comfortable and the atmosphere is so “homie” which is so important when undergoing your mammorgram because it can be a scary, nerve-racking thing. Just remember ladies if you’re over 40 years old you need to get checked at least once a year! And go with a friend, it makes it easier...and after go out for lunch or shopping, make a girls day out of it! That’s what we did and it was a great way to start our weekend! Until next time ladies, we’ll see you later!

Lunch and Happy Hour at Houlihan's Restaurant & Bar

Well todays weather was a drag! Because it was so gloomy out today, Lola and I decided we should head over to Houlihan’s for some lunch and of course happy hour! But before I could make my way to lunch, I had to drop the kids off at day care, and when I went to pick Lola up she had already started her happy hour...an hour early! That girl is crazy but I love her! The great thing about Houlihan’s is it was so close to Leigh’s just a quick little walk across the parking lot! Lola and walked into Leigh’s to check out all the new fall fashions they had got in and we couldn’t believe the amazing selection! Lola went for this amazing Rachel Zoe jacket that they had just got in that day, paired with some Rich and Skinny, skinny black jeans, while I wore the most amazing Blue Pea coat, with a great pair of green Vince pants! Because it was so cold out Rebecca showed us the amazing UGG section! Seriously so many UGG’s so little time! But what we are really excited for is the UGG trunk show happing at Leigh’s on Tuesday October 23rd, and Wednesday October 24th! And the great thing is that it’s the only UGG trunk show in West Michigan and Leigh’s gets to host it! Make sure you stop by and check it out! So after we picked out our outfits for lunch Lola and I were off!
oh my gosh look at this weather! Good thing we have on our comfy and cozy UGGS with these amazing new fall jackets! Lola and I were in loveeee with Houlihan’s atmosphere! It was open yet intimate, and the lighting as well as the decor was amazing! Houlihan’s is considered a “Restaurant & Bar” but don’t expect that whole dirty college bar scene (Even thought Lola loves those college boys!) This restaurant was gorgeous! So Lola and I found our way to the Bar..of course and took a seat! The menu was filled with amazing fresh options, even offering vegetarian and vegan options for all you heath nuts! And don’t get Lola started on the happy hour drink specials, needless to say Lola didn’t just fall in love with the bartender...
Lola got more than a glass of white wine! she got the cute bartenders number!
Like I said the atmosphere was amazing! I love how the restaurant was divided into different sections yet it was a really cohesive restaurant, everything went really well together!
And like I said we just loved the bar...and the bartender!

Couture for a Cure!

So last night wasn't the most amazing night or anything, right Eloise? Well in case you missed out my girl and I got all the pre show, and backstage stories and details on everything that happened last night at the 7th annual Couture for a Cure runway show! So once again my personal favorite night of the year rolled around and I couldn't be more excited! Couture for a Cure is more than just a fabulous night of fashion, it is hosted at the Van Andel Institute and helps raise funds for science education and cancer research.

So once again Eloise and I weren't asked to be in the show..I guess it's because we're to stiff or something like that, but whatever, we had our special seats behind the runway! But before I get into too much of the juicy details, let me tell you about what happened before the show! Eloise and I made our way to Leigh's to pick out our outfits for the show, which were already hand selected by Daniel Vosovic, a native West Michigander as well as the featured designer of Couture for a Cure 2012! Eloise wore this adorable forest green button up t-shirt dress and I had the most amazing outfit ever! A floor length shirt with this mosaic detail, matched with a sleeveless top that had the same detailing! Now Eloise and I are all ready for the show!

Let the show begin! Oh hey look, it’s Leighs!

I just had to try the catwalk at least once..It may look like I'm in great shape, but my thighs were on fire after! I don't know how those model did it!

Once I showed everyone my fabulous walk before the real models arrived, Eloise and I made our way backstage to help set up before the show!

Look who we found! Diane Teall, our first intern! We missed her so much!

Quick Eloise! Strike a pose there's photographers everywhere!

There were four different segments for the show put on by Leigh's followed by Daniel Vosovic's Spring 2013 line! Each segment had a different theme, the first was Bond Bombshells, which I hold close to my heart cause I myself was casted as a Bond girl, well...not really, but hey, a girl can dream! The second was Colorful Characters filled with amazing colors for fall, followed by Rock-Her which showed that there's an inner rocker chick in every girl, and finishing with After Hour Diva's which I mean I'm not really an "after hour diva" I'm just a diva all the time! Daniel Vosovic's line finished the show which was filled with amazing separates, dresses and gorgeous prints!

Clearly Daniel wanted to use us in the show but I think I drank a little to much wine before hand! Opps!

There are so many people Eloise and I need to thank! First off, thank you to everyone for coming out and showing your support to Leigh's, Daniel Vosovic and most importantly helping to raise funds for important research and science education at VAI. The Van Andel Institute was as gorgeous as ever and shout out to all the amazing models you looked fabulous (not as fabulous as me!) but still fabulous! We hope everyone has an amazing weekend, and we'll see you next time!

ArtPrize

It's our favorite time of the year again! And no Lola, it's not the half off white wine sale at D&W...It's ArtPrize! This year Grand Rapids was once again filled with creative, innovative and absolutely amazing pieces of art work from artist from all over the world! Lola and I decided we would take Jake the intern on a little adventure around ArtPrize on Sunday! But before we filled our day with art we obviously had to head over to Leigh's to try on some of their new fall fashions. It was a little chilly so Lola and I wanted to be dressed properly. I went for this really fun green plaid jacket that Leigh's just got by LAMB, with a pair of really comfy jeans by James Jean, and because it was so chilly out I just had to have this super warm turtleneck by Autumn Cashmere. Lola found this adorable fur vest by Dolce Cabo that everyone at ArtPrize loved, paired with an amazing sweater and pants from Vince! And we of course both wore shoes by Cole Haan!

Down the elevator we go to check out ArtPrize! I'm so clumsy I tripped while going into the elevator and smacked my head on the wall! Silly me!

Our first stop was to the Gerald Ford bronze statue that was at the heart of ArtPrize! We didn't realize how big it was until we stood right next to it.

Look at Lola trying to whisper something into Gerald's ear, we know you love older men but not that old!

Well after Lola was done flirting with Mr. Ford we made our way to another area of ArtPrize and found the coolest painting ever! It was called "Family Portrait" The meaning behind the piece was to try and unite people, and spread great peace in the world.

We couldn’t get over how big yet detailed the painting was!

While Lola and I were admiring this beautiful art work, we actually ran into one of the main artist himself! Eric Kravako, a Muskegon native was finishing up a tree, and stopped what he was doing to come over and talk to us girls! He was so nice and his message about the art work was so inspiring!

Lola watch those hands! Mr. Ford wouldn’t appreciate you talking to other men!

The purpose of the painting, was like we said earlier to spread peace and unite the people of Michigan, but what I didn't mention was that this entire piece was on the side of this large bus, which was meant for housing art classes to underprivileged children, which me being a mother just melted my heart!

Here’s the school bus that Eric was talking about!

We met some lovely girls that Jake the intern knew from Grand Valley State University! Julie and Abby were so nice!

We had such a fun time taking Jake around Grand Rapids and ArtPrize, thank you so much to all the artist and everyone else who made this years event so memorable and special! See you guys later!

We're back! Sorry about being gone for a week, Eloise caught the flu and I just couldn't go out on the town without my girl by my side! After taking a week off to rest of shopping at Leigh's chasing those gorgeous men of Grand Rapids and of course drinking white wine, Eloise and I just had to head to Leigh's for their amazing Trunk Shows! And this week we got lucky, Leigh's was putting on three different shows at once. What kinda girl doesn't love shopping for jewelry, shoes and clothing all in the same place (and within a 100 foot area) I mean I know these shoes are adorable but a girl just can't walk all over the place in these, they're just to high! So after making our weekly rounds and saying hi to all the wonderful employees at Leigh's we found ourselves talking to the amazing and super cute Summer March from the clothing line Zenobia! After looking through the line of gorgeous clothes Eloise and I found the perfect outfits to start our day!

Isn’t Summer March from Zenobia just amazing, we love her!!

I found this amazing one shoulder cream colored dress, with cut outs on the right sleeve, while on the same side the dress had this really cool gathered texture that added a little fun to the dress. Eloise went with these black lace overlay pants, matched with a simple black tank paired with this jacket that is to die for! We love a good cropped jacket with a fun side zipper, it gives you that really fun edgy look while looking professional!

Just showing some off the amazing patterns and textures from Zenobia’s line. We wanted everything!

After stopping by Zenobia to hangout with our girl Summer we decided we wanted some jewelry, and we were just in luck! The super talented energetic Michelle Morocco was just around the corner with her amazing jewelry line Niyama! Her line was filled with gorgeous stones paired with black and brown leather, and some amazing beading with the most adorable charms with really fun saying that would be perfect for anyone from myself to even one of Eloise's kids! Eloise and I changed just before making our way to Michelle! I put on this adorable Valentino Red black dress with these amazing Maria Sharapova by Cole Haan boots with black tights, while Eloise went with one of Leigh's new Michael Stars sweaters and a really fashionable and comfy pair of denim by J Brand!

Look how amazing this jewelry is! We love her boot charms, just taking the concept of a necklace and wrapping it around your boot gives it a whole new fashionable look!

We loved everything, and Michelle has mastered the layered look that gives you that cool effortless rocker vibe! Thank you so much Michelle, namaste girl!

And our last stop on the Trunk Show train was at Cole Haan! We love our Cole Haan shoes! The spring line was filled with amazing pops of color from the shoe laces to the bottoms or insides of the shoe, Cole Haan has done it once again! He's made me want to buy every shoe he makes!

We loved these wingtip shoes that give you that old school look with a fun pop of color! We love you Cole Haan!!

Special thanks to the amazing Summer March from Zenobia, Michelle Morocco and her line Niyama and of course Cole Haan! We had such an amazing day at Leigh's make sure to check us out again on Sunday and see Eloise's and I adventure downtown at ArtPrize!
