The Saturday Experience

It is that time of year again where the weather gets cold and I get lazy on weekends! So, I decided to look up some fun things to do during this time of year. I stumbled upon this so called “Saturday Experience” that the Grand Rapids Roasters has every Saturday. I called Eloise up on the phone and told her we HAD to try it out! We usually are wine individuals but desperate times call for desperate measures, I need a warm drink in my hand…I mean I could always indulge in some Bailey’s and coffee…hmm…yeah I think that’s for next weekend!  Anyways, I bundled up in some great new winter attire from Leigh’s, hopped in the car, and took a nice brisk morning drive with my right hand gal to the Grand Rapids Roasters.

The coffee house was in this hundred year old building. We rode an industrial elevator to the fifth floor and walked into this little café that you would not imagine to be there. Right away we were served with this amazing Dominican blend coffee and got to talking with the owner Craig. He was absolutely delightful to talk to about his business, you can really tell he is passionate in what he does!
Eloise wore a very cute chunky K&K Interior necklace while I wore a Dana Stein scarf

We looked fabulous, I must say!
I wore a black Bailey 44 dress with Vince leggings while Eloise wore a Nic-Zoe top, a Zoe Couture cape, and nutmeg colored pair of Not Your Daughters Jeans.

The morning turned out to be such a fun little outing and I would suggest to anyone to go check it out if they had the time. It is a great place to take your friend or significant other to have a different coffee experience! If you’re in the mood to switch it up I would highly recommend checking out the Grand Rapids Roasters “Saturday Experience!”

We met some new, funky friends while we visited the Grand Rapids Roasters!

JUMP, JUMP, JUMP AROUND!

As you all know, Lola and I are very fun individuals. We love to bring the party wherever we go! Well, last week we over heard the intern, Lauren, say that she was going to Sky Zone, this trampoline bounce house, with her sorority and another fraternity. So, being our wild and crazy self’s, we decided to crash the event! I am for sure the cool mom so I need to make sure I keep living up to the title!

I wore a great Comfy jacket, tunic, and pant with a Dana Stein scarf. Lola wore an adorable Dana Stein vest over a Barbra Lesser sweater, a Shawlsmith scarf and a Comfy legging.

When we got to the event, Lauren was very surprised! But she was so excited to see us and to introduce everyone to us that we felt like we were part of the group! Of course, Lola prowled around like the cougar she is with the guys…things will never change with that girl. Can’t blame her though…they were pretty cute!

We are so loved!

While we were there, we ran into some cool moms (while we rested from all the bouncing around...we are getting stiffer by the day…) and had a wonderful conversation about our clothes! It was right up our ally! We told them about Leigh’s and all the fun and very stylish clothes they have in right now…I think we sold them!

We had an absolute blast at Sky Zone and cannot wait to take the kids one day! Again, we loved hanging out with Lauren and all of her friends. Although now I am ready to go home, soak in a hot bath, and drink a glass of wine while my stiff body relaxes after that great workout!

For Feat's Sake!

The other day Lola and I were shopping at Leigh's and started working up an appetite from all the shopping we were doing. We decided to ask one of the girls what they would recommend for us to eat. They told us about this cute little hot dog place, Feat's, right in next door in the shopping center to Leigh's. Sold! Right when the girls mentioned a hot dog I couldn't help but start craving a big, loaded hot dog!

So, we checked out and took a nice little stroll over to Feat's. When we walked in we noticed some school spirit displayed through out the store. We asked what school it was for and they said Catholic Central High School. A parent of one of the students decided to open up the hot dog store to help give students an opportunity to work in the store or have a place to go hang out after school. There is a student staff that works there everyday ranging from high school to college students. When we went into the store there were a couple of alumni of Catholic Central that we got to chit chat with!

We decided to just split a hot dog just like the darling little couple we are! The Feat's employees were so much fun to talk to and hang out with during our lunch date! They even let Lola wear one of their hats!

Let's Go Exsplore!

As you all know, we love Leigh’s! We cannot get enough of the store and their amazing team. So, we decided to take a little trip over to the store to hang out with some of our friends at Leigh’s. When we arrived we bumped into Patrick the creative director for the store. Just a couple weeks ago Leigh’s hosted the Couture for a Cure fashion show. The event is absolutely wonderful and we enjoy going every year! Lola has some idea in her head that she wants to be in next years show…girl, keep eating your salads and cut down on your wine consumption if that’s your “dream.”

I must say, I am looking quite sophisticated!

Rock those maroon pants Lola!

We wanted to look casual but still stylish! Lola wore a Vince sweater and cardigan with maroon Not Your Daughter Jeans along with a statement piece to, of course, add some bling! I went with a more sophisticated look with a Foxcroft green and white button down with a Belford sweater for overtop the shirt. For pants, I joined copied Lola and wore my dark wash Not Your Daughter Jeans. To top everything off I took my Vivante scarf and created a little afghan!

Don't we look superb!

While talking to Patrick, he asked if we wanted to go up into the warehouse to check out some of his ideas for the store and just hang out for a bit. We, of course were up to it! While up in his creative space, we ran into a few of our long time friends! Sarah and Paul were looking great as always but I swear they thought they were on a nude beach. (I told Lola to try to get Paul to ask her on a date but she is so stubborn sometimes! She thinks he is too old…whatever. I think he is hot, single, and ready to mingle!)

Sarah is back there striking a pose!

We had the chance to try on some fun back stock from the past seasons. Patrick’s office is so much fun! We loved the time chit chatting with him and getting to talk fashion with such a fashionable guy!

My hat didn't quite fit...

Lola built up the courage to ask Patrick if she could be in the Couture for a Cure fashion show next year and he said that he would LOVE to have her! He took some measurements for future reference and told her that they would let her know information when the time comes. I have to give it to the girl, she knows how to work a look! I’m excited to possibly cheer my best friend on in the next show!

Patrick showing us some pieces in the last issue of Vogue he loves!

We had such a fabulous afternoon with Patrick and a few old friends. I think I am going to message Paul on Facebook and give him Lola’s number…hard times call for drastic measures. I need to get this girl a husband!

Golf Outing

The other day, Eloise and I decided to once again visit our friends at Leigh’s. While we were there, we ran into their intern Lauren who told us about this charity golf outing her sorority, Sigma Kappa, was hosting. We learned that she is in the same sorority as Megan (One of the previous interns who we of course adore!).  We attended one of their events a couple of years ago and had a blast! Needless to say we accepted Lauren’s offer and I was secretly hoping to meet some hunky guy golfers in conjunction with attending a fabulous event!

Since we were already hanging out with Lauren in the store, she selected some darling outfits for us to wear to the golf outing. We had it in our minds we would have to be all dressed up in plaid (thinking of Caddy Shack) and knickers, but Lauren had a more updated look in mind. She choose for Eloise a comfy Rachel Zoe sweater and popped it with a rockin’ red Magaschoni cashmere scarf and then paired them with a black French Connection contemporary pant. Then for me, she picked a black Rachel Zoe pant with leather accents and a Central Park West sweater with a Barbara Lesser vest. I think we need to hire her as our professional stylist and have her dress us every day…makes our lives so much easier!

Unfortunately, the weather was not the nicest on Sunday. Since it was so rainy, we hung out and chit chatted with the lovely girls at the check-in table and in the club house and flirted with as many single guys as I could bump into. Lauren was so busy driving the beverage cart we hardly saw her, but when she came in, she was soaking wet! Fortunately, we had declined her offer to assist because Eloise and I worked out the other day and we were feeling a little stiff….and we saw the forecast!  She was so funny telling us all the goofy things people were doing on the golf course. Even though it is a more serious sport, because of the rain, it seemed that most of the participants were just trying to have fun with it! One of the guys wore bright green plaid pants and a bright pink polo… not my favorite ensemble, but darn was he hot! I think I could get past his bad dressing.

Anyways, we had a blast, once again, at one of the Sigma Kappa’s fundraising events. It always feels great to give back and have a wonderful time doing so. We can’t wait for the next event we can attend!

It's Trend Party Time!

We have been hearing such great things about the Trend parties Leigh’s has been hosting every Thursday this September, so Eloise and I decided to go check it out! We need a little retail therapy and Leigh’s is just the place to go. This week hosted the latest shoe trends for the season and of course as shoes are a girl’s best friend, we thought this would be a good Thursday to attend!

We are in desperate need of some new shoes!

We had to show up stylish as always to Leigh’s because there really is no other way. I went for a more sassy flare as I wore some of my favorite Rachel Zoe pieces from her fall collection. Eloise went a little simpler with her outfit, but added a nice pop with her Love Zoey Blazer.

Eloise looking so sophisticated                 Me, looking great...as always :]

All the boots we saw there for this season were to die for! I was in love with some edgy UGG leather boots. Eloise couldn’t resist the Bed Stu boots and ended up buying two styles! Naturally, we couldn’t just keep our focus on just the shoes, so we ventured out into the store to take a look at some great close that just came in for the fall season. We checked out some DL 1961 jeans and, of course, fell in love with a few washes and had to take a couple pairs home.

As always, it was a great little shopping spree at Leigh’s and we can’t wait for more events this year to go check out!

Let's Get Our Art On!

It’s that time of year again, yes, it is Artprize time! Of course Eloise and I had to go check it out immediately since we already were hearing so much about it before the event even started. We broke out the leather, our edgy looks, and artistic flare and fit right in!

Since it was Artprize we had to look our best! I wore an Elliot Lauren Shirt paired with a Tribal Novelty Leather Jacket and a Vivante scarf with Tribal leggings. Eloise looked chic in her My Tribe leather pants, a Vince sweater and a fabulous Tribal Jacket. It ended up being a pretty gloomy, windy day so our jackets were very convenient! Nevertheless, the weather didn’t keep us from walking around and seeing all the very cool art pieces displayed throughout downtown Grand Rapids.

Our favorite part of the day was seeing the installation piece in The Grand River. It was so neat to see how the artist set everything up in the water and displayed it the way that they did! We felt a little inspired and decided to take a little video for you all to check out below!

We had an absolute blast seeing all these amazing art pieces and picking out our favorites this year. Eloise is excited to take the family to Artprize but we needed to have a little date with each other before she went with the kids. This is such a hard event to only go to once because when you think you saw it all, you discover more pieces! I can’t wait to maybe go check it out a couple more times!

To the Market We Go

Hello everyone! It’s Lola here! Last weekend Eloise and I decided that we had to go check out the Downtown Market in Grand Rapids. They just recently opened the indoor market this month, so of course we needed to take a little sneak peek!

Eloise and I wanted to make a nice farmers market statement so we kept our outfits cozy yet, of course, stylish. I wore some great fall trends including a Tracy Reese Plenty sweater, Vince leggings, and a Yigal Azrouel scarf. Eloise looked so cute in a Donna Degan top with a Dikon cardigan to keep warm, Vince leggings, and a Pono necklace. These new fall fashion pieces we picked up at Leigh’s were such a great purchase, I couldn’t wait to rock my outfit downtown!

Right as we arrived, we immediately had to stop at the first table to grab some delicious looking Hubbert’s Kettle Corn. Eloise picked up some “Unicorn Poop” (gotta love the name) for the kids. It was so different yet so much fun! Eloise said the kids almost ate the whole bag that night when she brought it home! She and I bought another bag of their cinnamon popcorn and maybe sorta couldn't show any restraint and ate the whole thing before we got home…oops. We decided to keep her husband in the dark about that since he loves popcorn so much (let’s hope he doesn’t read this post!).

YUM!

As we continued to travel down the strip we picked up some wonderful, fresh produce from local farmers. It always makes me feel good to know that we are giving back to our community. Later that weekend, I visited Eloise at her house for a nice dinner and made homemade pizza from all the items that we purchased from the Downtown Market. The kids had so much fun putting together their pizzas, and it made a really fun night for Eloise’s family and I.

Inside the indoor market, there were so many things to see and try. From eating delectable chocolates to trying all different kinds of vinegar and olive oil, the experience was absolutely delightful. Eloise and I want to make dates to return at least once a month to get fresh produce and fabulous products!

To the Peir We Go!

Seeing as fall is right around the corner, Lola and I decided we should get to the Grand Haven beach one more time before the weather gets too chilly. With not a cloud in the sky, it was a beautiful day to take a nice stroll on the pier. Seeing as it was not too cold yet, I decided to break out my light and very comfortable 360 Cashmere cardigan and paired it with my amazing J Brand denim. I kept it quite casual with a Michael Stars top under the cardigan, but of course had to add a Marlyn Schniff necklace as my accessory to give my outfit a little spunk. As usual, Lola looked a little more “blinged” out for the beach but looked fantastic if I do say so myself. She brought out some of the great fall trends with her W118 by Walter Baker top, Trina Turk leather skirt, and Lordane necklace…if that’s not bling I don’t know what is!

We couldn't have asked for a prettier day! Although, thank goodness for
for our new fall sweaters because it got a little windy!

Once we continued our stroll, we started to get a little hungry. I was in the mood for a nice Michigan salad, but Lola convinced me we had to get something a little more Grand Haven original. So, even though I was looking out for my girly figure, Lola persuaded me to go to Pronto Pup corndog stand! I want to say I regret the calories, but I do not! It was a must-have for being at the beach!

To our surprise, we bumped into Leigh’s intern Lauren and her date! We were a little nervous to go up and interrupt her, but she was thrilled to see us and introduced us to PJ (Lola of course couldn't keep her eyes off of PJ and kept whispering to me what a hottie he was....I told her she sounds like a cougar...geez he's 10 years younger Lola...find someone your own age). They just grabbed a pup themselves which was their first ones ever…she is going to be hooked after that one, let me tell you, they can be quite addicting.

It was so fun to be able to sit down and have a nice conversation at the pier with Lauren and get to know her a little better since we will be seeing her at Leigh’s (…often by how much we love to shop there)! Sadly, we had to let her get back to her date and I had to get home to take the kiddies to soccer practice. Overall, I had such a splendid afternoon walking around the Grand Haven pier gossiping and chit chatting about nothing with my best friend Lola! I’m sad to see this nice weather go, but then again I am pretty excited to switch out my sandals for a nice, new pair of Stuart Weitzman boots!
